A Comprehensive Approach to Autism Diagnosis

An autism evaluation is a comprehensive assessment process aimed at determining whether an individual, often a child, exhibits the characteristics associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

At the Autism Evaluation Center of South Central Wisconsin, we offer specialized diagnostic evaluations tailored to identify autism in adults and children of any age.

This evaluation includes a broad range of assessments, covering not only autism but also potential co-occurring conditions like mood disorders and anxiety.

Why is an Autism Evaluation Important?

Discovering autism early in children unlocks access to early intervention services that are most impactful when initiated during the tender years.

These services can enhance a child’s ability to communicate, socialize, and navigate their behavior, laying the foundation for a thriving future.

For adults, an autism evaluation can shed light on the nuances of challenges and differences they’ve navigated throughout their lives, marking a pivotal moment in embracing one’s identity and securing the right support.
This journey towards self-discovery and acceptance is instrumental in fostering a fulfilling life.

Getting officially diagnosed with autism can help the person and their family understand why they act a certain way in social situations, talk the way they do, deal with changes, and react to things they see, hear, or feel.

Also, with a formal diagnosis, it is easier for them to seek and receive the help and support they need at work or school.

The Evaluation Process

You and/or your child will have two separate online appointments for your evaluation. This schedule allows you and your healthcare provider ample time to gather necessary information and make well-informed plans.

Once your evaluation is arranged, we’ll send you several clinical questionnaires, which should be filled out before the first appointment. Depending on the findings from the initial assessment, we may send out a few more questionnaires.

After you complete the questionnaires, your doctor will finalize your assessment. Then, you’ll have a follow-up meeting to review the findings and receive a detailed report.

You can choose to keep your evaluation private and not share the results with your insurance, employer, school, or family.
